His latest album – Suite Três Rios – was recorded in Rio De Janeiro and inspired by a few rivers in the Amazon Rainforest … he has gone on to make some great sounds in the jazz world

“A música brasileira sempre esteve presente na minha vida. Em Londres, a minha mãe colocava discos do Jobim e outros e eu ia sempre procurar “A Turma do Funil” – não me cansava de ouvir essa canção. Claro que estudar num centro de pesquisa como a UNICAMP permitiu-me entrar nesse mundo popular e também conhecer os grandes artistas eruditos, como Villa-Lobos, Camargo Guarnieri e Radamés Gnattali, que adaptaram a vivência do povo local a um universo de raiz europeia.”
