"Εμπνεύστηκα το όνομα από τη συμβολή των ποταμών Σολιμόες και Νέγκρο στον Αμαζόνιο. Πρόκειται για ένα μοναδικό φαινόμενο, κατά το οποίο τα δυο ποτάμια συναντιούνται χωρίς να αλλάζει το χαρακτηριστικό χρώμα του καθενός. Μου θύμισε το πολιτισμικό υπόβαθρό μου. Κάθε έθνος από το οποίο προερχόμουν είχε τον ρόλο του στην ανατροφή μου, χωρίς απαραίτητα το ένα να επισκιάζει το άλλο."

"A música brasileira sempre esteve presente na minha vida. Em Londres, a minha mãe colocava discos do Jobim e outros e eu ia sempre procurar “A Turma do Funil” – não me cansava de ouvir essa canção. Claro que estudar num centro de pesquisa como a UNICAMP permitiu-me entrar nesse mundo popular e também conhecer os grandes artistas eruditos, como Villa-Lobos, Camargo Guarnieri e Radamés Gnattali, que adaptaram a vivência do povo local a um universo de raiz europeia."
